Barcelona, a city committed to improving its sustainable mobility initiative, faces now the implementation of the new e-Bicing system.
The former Bicing service active since 2007, has near half a million subscribers among the residents of Barcelona.
The new system will allow the stations we already know to connect both electric and traditional bicycles, by performing an energy balance to be distributed according to the bicycles parked.
im3 has been awarded the contract for Technical Assistance Services for the Project Management and Health and Safety Coordination in the execution of the implementation works of the outlets and meters of the traffic lighting network and linking facilities for future e-Bicing stations (Stage, 1, 2 and 3) with sustainable public procurement.
The project to be executed was drafted by the end of 2007 by the ims3’s Urban Engineering Department.
The works are expected to be under execution for 20 months, during years 2018, 2019 and 2020.
In order to undertake these works, im3 will provide 9 Urban Engineering team experts with different dedication levels depending on the needs of the contract at each stage of the project.
The goal of the Barcelona’s Council is to provide electric bike service outlets and meters at the following Bicing locations:
- 319 existing locations
- 100 changed locations
- 97 new locations
The main works to be executed are:
- Action management
- Project Management of works and facilities
- Health and Safety Coordination
- Environmental Control Coordination
- “AS BUILT” project drafting at the end of the works
For the follow-up of the work progress the team will use a tool specifically developed for this service by the im3.solutions’ innovation division, making reporting and document management along the three stages of the project easier to accomplish.
