{"id":12186,"date":"2022-03-17T05:53:57","date_gmt":"2022-03-17T05:53:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.ingenieros-im3.com\/uncategorized\/the-voronoi-polygons-part-ii\/"},"modified":"2022-11-30T18:04:51","modified_gmt":"2022-11-30T18:04:51","slug":"the-voronoi-polygons-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ingenieros-im3.com\/en\/noticias\/the-voronoi-polygons-part-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"The Voronoi polygons \u2013 part II"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>17\/03\/2022<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">QGIS is a free open source GIS that allows calculation and representation of Voronoi polygons on plans and cartographic maps of urban areas and geographical regions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">When, for example, we build a new distribution power substation in a city to meet the growing demand for new domestic and commercial consumption, this function will allow us to represent the new configuration of the Voronoi polygons around the existing substations and the new one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">The criterion for providing service to a new building will be to project a feeder from the substation corresponding to the Voronoi polygon within which the new supply point is located.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">The world of cell phones (including 5G technology) is named after the location system of radio transmitting antennas to provide coverage to cell phones that are within their Voronoi polygon or cell.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">In areas with a high density of users, the antennas are closer, so the polygons or cells are less extensive, while in less dense areas, the distances between antennas are greater and therefore, so are their associated polygons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>If the distances between the transmitting antennas are regular, the polygons tend to be regular hexagons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">For more information, contact <span style=\"color: #002060;\">Daniel S\u00e1nchez Cast\u00e1n <\/span>(dsanchez@ingenieros-im3.com)<\/span><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>17\/03\/2022 QGIS is a free open source GIS that allows calculation and representation of Voronoi polygons on plans and cartographic maps of urban areas and geographical regions.
